Home from home?

In a year full of surprises, the biggest had to be a phone call from the harbour master, offering us a river mooring. After the initial euphoria, we began to realise the implications – a mooring holder has to occupy his mooring for at least three months of the year; so it means an end to our Baltic travels for a while. Accordingly, we spent 10 days, earlier this year, in Burgstaaken ‘putting the boat back together’, then loading all our extraneous gear into the car for the journey home. There were very mixed emotions when we realised we will be saying goodbye to Fehmarn, and the Baltic – we have become very attached to the area, and it’s people. We will see how we fare in the UK for a couple of years – who knows?
