Home from home?

In a year full of surprises, the biggest had to be a phone call from the harbour master, offering us a river mooring. After the initial euphoria, we began to realise the implications – a mooring holder has to occupy his mooring for at least three months of the year; so it means an end to our Baltic travels for a while. Accordingly, we spent 10 days, earlier this year, in Burgstaaken ‘putting the boat back together’, then loading all our extraneous gear into the car for the journey home.

Our departure in June was a sad affair, saying goodbye to some of the friends we have made over the past couple of years. The journey home was largely unremarkable, and now Vela sits comfortably on her new mooring on the Hamble, looking forward to visiting somewhere new.
